Northbanks technically developed, manufactured and installed a modular display built around an existing architectural column for Topologie at Selfridges London.

Challenge
The footprint was not a blank canvas. The display had to work around an existing column, create useful merchandising capacity and preserve Topologie’s deliberately raw, functional aesthetic while meeting Selfridges’ technical, fire and overnight-installation requirements.

our approach
The concept already had a strong functional logic, so the priority was to make that logic buildable and compliant without over-finishing it. Fire-rated FSC-approved plywood preserved the honest material character, while a modular pegboard system created flexibility for the store team.
The
Solution
Breed Universe combines strong header branding, structured graphic panels, shelf-edge communication and breed-led navigation into one permanent modular system.
Northbanks developed a two-panel plywood pegboard system with modular shelves and supports, using 15mm fire-rated FSC-approved plywood and secure mechanical fixings.
Acrylic lettering, illuminated branding and a fire-rated mesh graphic added clear brand presence without competing with the utility-led construction. The display transformed the column itself into the organising device for the retail footprint.
TECHNICAL DELIVERY
The project included Selfridges Stage 2 technical development, production drawings, material and finish coordination, fire compliance, RAMS, access documentation and out-of-hours installation.
Fixings, edge details, illumination and mesh construction were resolved before manufacture so the finished system could be installed cleanly within the live department-store environment.
The
Result
An awkward architectural constraint became useful branded retail space. The modular pegboard increased merchandising flexibility while the integrated graphics and illuminated branding gave the footprint much stronger visibility within Selfridges.
