Design, manufacture and installation of Carrie Elizabeth’s first retail concession within Liberty London’s new Fashion Jewellery Gallery, translating an established online jewellery brand into a distinctive physical experience, thoughtfully planned around its customers and team. This featured over 25 emerging jewellery brands handpicked by Liberty for this initial showcase.
For Carrie Elizabeth, this was an important step in the brand’s growth. The concession needed to bring its identity, personal service and the meaning behind its jewellery into a physical setting. It had to feel familiar to its existing community and welcoming to customers discovering the brand at Liberty.
We had to achieve that within the requirements of the new Fashion Jewellery Gallery. Liberty’s prescribed concession format influenced the dimensions, layout, branding and lighting, alongside the constraints of the historic building.
There was also a lot to accommodate within a compact footprint: jewellery displays, secure storage, packaging, gift wrapping, till equipment and room for staff to serve customers. These functions needed to work together without overwhelming the product presentation.
The budget required careful consideration, particularly for a brand investing in its first concession. We needed to identify where expenditure would have the greatest impact and develop cost-effective ways to deliver the design.
Retailer approvals, restricted access routes and installation arrangements added another layer of coordination within the wider gallery launch.

We collaborated closely with Carrie and her team to translate their online story into a physical experience. The jewellery remained central, with the materials, lighting and details creating a recognisable Carrie Elizabeth setting to ensure the physical environment felt like an organic extension of their digital presence.
We considered how the concession would be used throughout the working day.
For customers, that meant seeing the jewellery clearly, exploring the collections, trying pieces and having a conversation. For staff, it meant thinking through the sequence of serving someone: accessing displays, retrieving stock, taking payment and wrapping a purchase, alongside replenishment and keeping the space presentable.
That informed the display access, concealed storage, wrapping shelf, till provision and cable management. Each detail had a practical purpose in supporting the team and the service they would provide.
Budget was part of the design process from the beginning. To maximise value, we focused investment on the elements that would make the greatest difference: jewellery presentation, lighting, the principal surfaces and distinctive brand details, alongside the essential operational requirements.
We considered materials, construction and manufacturing methods early, finding cost-effective ways to achieve the design and understanding the implications of changes before committing to production.
Northbanks coordinated the client, retailer and production teams throughout, connecting creative development with technical detail, manufacture and installation.
We developed a coordinated front counter and back-wall display that combined product presentation, brand identity and everyday working functions.
The principal elements included:
Together, these elements gave the brand a distinctive setting while incorporating the facilities needed to operate the concession.
We also coordinated the retailer submissions, delivery arrangements and installation access required to bring the scheme into the department.

The launch brought together two important milestones: Carrie Elizabeth’s first dedicated retail concession and the opening of Liberty’s new Fashion Jewellery Gallery on the first floor. What that has produced is a really beautiful, timeless space for Carrie Elizabeth to showcase their beautiful jewellery.
For a brand with an established ecommerce business and loyal online community, it marked a significant step in its growth. Existing customers now had a place to explore the collections, try pieces and speak to the team. The location also created an opportunity to introduce the brand to visitors discovering Liberty’s new jewellery destination.
WHY IT MATTERS
The project brought together a recognisable brand environment, considered jewellery presentation and the practical facilities needed by the team. It reflects our view that the customer experience depends partly on how well a space supports the people delivering it.
For Northbanks, it demonstrates how we help growing brands establish a physical retail presence, connecting creative thinking with commercial decisions and delivery. Designing to an agreed budget was integral to that support: helping the client make informed choices about where to invest at this stage of the business.
